We provide a variety of services including design-builds, commercial construction, renovations, structural upgrading, hydro-vac, horizontal directional drilling, utilities excavating, property maintenance, landscaping, and fencing. We have more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry.

William Sons is recruiting for a Fibre Optic Construction Foreman. This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday.

In this role, the Fibre Optic Construction Foreman will manage and supervise construction crews for the directional drilling, cable plowing and installation of below-ground fibre optic cable. This involves planning the installation activities using blueprints and site information to lead a team to complete this work. You will manage the project schedule and plan daily site activities, while ensuring everyone works safely.

Other aspects of this position include:

• Managing the documentation of the work
• Working collaboratively with on-site contractors and project managers
• Ensuring the cable or conduit is free of damage and bringing forward any issues to the appropriate site leader
• Stay ahead of the production crews and notify the client well in advance of any design issues or necessary changes
• Perform quality control as construction progresses to ensure a successful and efficient installation
• Problem-solving for any site challenges
• Creating work assignments for crew members

• Previous experience with detailed underground construction work
• Experience managing and motivating crews
• A strong communicator with the crews and others on site to ensure project success
• Fluent with the interpretation of blueprints and site plans
• A commitment to safety and being able to convey safe work practices to others
• Direct experience with fibre optic work is an asset
