Bamoonzhe Day Care opened in April 2023 in Petawawa with a goal of providing high-quality childcare for the county and sharing some indigenous teachings. We are in partnership with the Bonnechere Algonquin First Nation to provide childcare and we are attached to the Herman Street Public School.
We are recruiting for a Floater Educator. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday. This is a 12-month temporary role to cover a maternity leave.
The Educator responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively to assist in activities that follow children’s developmental needs and interests in harmony with the centre’s philosophies
- Create and maintain a high-quality, safe environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of the children
- Observe and document children’s developmental milestones, interests, and needs
- Develop and implement a best practice program, in line with “How Does Learning Happen”
- Plan a curriculum by implementing Indigenous teachings that include the Seven Grandfathers
- Maintain an organized space, equipment, and materials
- Provide experiences and play materials that actively promote diversity and acceptance in interactions and attitudes
- Ensure program goals and standards are being met
- Observe how children use materials and share your findings with other staff
- Complete individual support plans to help support children
- Ensure daily documentation in communication book, in daily health records, children health checks, medication forms, first aid kit inspection forms, and cleanings log are all up to date and completed
- Establish daily eating routines that promote self-help skills and independence
- Attend to children’s physical needs for toileting, diapering, eating, and sleeping
- Daycare cleaning of the centre and assisting with cleaning daycare programs
