Bamoonzhe Day Care opened in April 2023 in Petawawa with a goal is to provide high-quality childcare for the county and to share some indigenous teachings. We are in partnership with the Bonnechere Algonquin First Nation to provide childcare and we are attached to the Herman Street Public School.
We are recruiting for Supply Childcare Workers. These are casual, on-call positions with availability between the hours of 6:45am and 5:15pm.
The Supply Childcare Worker is responsible for being in ratio covering staff in their absence.
Responsibilities include:
- Follow routines set out by each program room.
- Assist in implementing a best practice program, in line with “How Does Learning Happen” that supports and promotes the four foundations: well-being, engagement, expression, and belonging.
- Implement activities set out by the staff that follow the children’s developmental needs.
- Implement indigenous teachings that include the seven grandfathers: honesty, humility, respect, bravery, wisdom, love, and truth.
- Support children through each domain of physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Maintain a high-quality, safe environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
- Observe children’s developmental milestones, interests, and needs.
- Promote open communication with staff and families regarding development and interests.
- Support children in the development of their self-help skills and independence.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, management, and families.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Keep current with daily requirements, observations and ministry-regulated documents.
- Work in partnership to maintain the cleanliness and organization of classroom materials and the centre.
