Bamoonzhe Daycare opened in April 2023 in Petawawa with a goal of providing high-quality childcare for the county and sharing some indigenous teachings. We are in partnership with the Bonnechere Algonquin First Nation to provide childcare and we are attached to the Herman Street Public School.

We are recruiting for a Resource Educator. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday.

The Resource Educator is responsible for assisting in the delivery of core program services including:

• Provide the program with any extra assistance they might need
• Develop and implement a best practice program, in line with “How Does Learning Happen” that supports and promotes the four foundations: well-being, engagement, expression, and belonging
• Plan and implement activities that follow children’s developmental needs
• Plan a curriculum by implementing Indigenous teachings that include the Seven Grandfathers
• Support children through each domain of development
• Create and maintain a high-quality safe environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
• Observe and document children’s developmental milestones, interests, and needs
• Promote open communication with staff and families regarding development and interests
• Support children in the development of their self-help skills and independence
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, management, and families
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required
• Work in partnership to maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom materials and centre.
• Keep up to date with daily requirements, observations, ministry regulated documents, and ELECT learning stories

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Work in collaboratively with a large team
• Standard First Aid and CPR Level C 
• Clear vulnerable sector check 
• Flexibility within a busy daycare setting
• Available to work between the hours of 6:45am and 5:15pm
• 1-3 years of experience in the childcare field is preferred

We offer three weeks of paid vacation during daycare closures and a health and dental benefit plan after completing a six-month probationary period.
