The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is one of 34 public health units in Ontario. We serve the municipalities in Renfrew County and district, which also include the City of Pembroke, the Township of South Algonquin and most of Algonquin Provincial Park.

The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is recruiting for a Manager, Seniors Dental and School Health. This is a permanent, full-time position.

The Manager, Seniors Dental and School Health is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and managing the dental and school health programs. These include Ontario Seniors Dental, Healthy Smiles Ontario, immunization surveillance of schools and licensed childcare facilities, and school-based immunizations. These programs are designed to protect and promote health and prevent disease in the RCDHU area, in accordance with the Ontario public health standards. This role is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and supervision of assigned personnel.

• Bachelor of science degree in nursing; master’s degree in public health, or a related field of study is preferred
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• A minimum of three years of professional experience in public health or a relevant setting
• Progressive supervisory and administrative responsibility
• Knowledge and experience with community liaison, program planning, team building and coalition building are desirable
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Public Health Standards, program-specific content knowledge and public health core competencies
• Familiarity with federal, provincial and municipal legislation, regulations and guidelines that have implications for public health
• Oral and written proficiency in English
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
• Satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector checks
• Proof that you have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Assets:

• Experience in public health management
• Knowledge and experience in the areas of human resources, labour relations, policy development, financial management, quality and risk management
• Oral and written proficiency in French
