Nigig Nibi-Ki-win Gamik is an Indigenous child and family well-being organization rooted in Algonquin jurisdiction and community values. Our team supports the staff working directly with child, youth and families.
We are recruiting for a Human Relational Services Lead. This is a full-time position.
About The Role
The Human Resources Lead will work to identify staffing needs, recruit employees, assist in the successful management of personnel-related disputes, coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities, and oversee the development of policies, programs, protocols and structures to create and maintain a supportive workplace for employees. This position oversees the Human Relational Services team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the management team to identify skills and competencies required for job openings
- Provides coaching on performance management issues, conflict management, and resolution
- Provides mentorship and professional development opportunities
- Conducts or oversees regular performance evaluations
- Oversees the development of job descriptions for newly created positions
- Assesses potential need to hire contractors
- Reviews workplace policies and protocols to maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations and Anishinaabe values
- Identifies and sets salary ranges for newly created positions
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits and proposes competitive pay programs to attract and retain employees
- Oversees the implementation of benefit packages and policies
- Provides regular updates including monthly department reports

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in human resources management, business administration, or a related field
- A minimum of five years of human resource experience
- Criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check
- A Class G driver’s license and a clear driver’s abstract
- Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and standards
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various software programs.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve and resolve conflicts
- Tact, discretion, and a professional level of confidentiality
- Self-motivated, reliable, thorough, and proactive
- Sensitive to Indigenous culture and values
Assets:
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, or working towards,
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) people in a community-based setting
