We are recruiting for a Property Maintenance Officer. This is a full-time position.

The Property Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring that Nigig Nibi Ki-win Gamik's facilities, buildings, grounds, vehicles, equipment and physical assets remain safe, functional and welcoming for visitors and members. This position performs preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, contractor coordination and grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs to all organizational buildings and facilities.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Perform basic carpentry, painting, drywall repair, plumbing, and minor electrical work within qualifications.
  • Ensure emergency exits, fire extinguishers, lighting, alarms, and safety equipment remain accessible and operational.
  • Maintain grounds of all Nigig operational locations throughout all seasons
  • Coordinate external service providers, monitor contractor work for quality and completion, submitting appropriate quotes and invoices for approval and payment.
  • Actively assessing buildings, locations and assets to mitigate potential safety concerns with respect to regular operations, and general upkeep and compliance.
  • Maintain maintenance records and work orders.
  • Assist with annual maintenance planning.
  • Participate in budgeting for facility maintenance.
  • Prepare work reports as requested.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma in property management, fleet management or a combination of skills and experience in these areas
  • Two to five years of demonstrated experience in property management
  • One to two years of fleet management experience
  • Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) people in a community-based setting is an asset
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices
  • Knowledge of fleet management principles, including vehicle maintenance, inspections
  • Working knowledge of financial administration, including expense tracking, and basic budgeting
  • Working knowledge of office technology and systems.

  • Criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check
  • G or E driver’s license and a clear driver’s abstract
