Nigig Nibi Ki-win Gamik Society is growing our team! 

Join our dynamic and dedicated team as we continue to develop capacity within the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation and the greater unceded Algonquin territory. With our child well-being law, Nigig Nibi Ki-win, now fully in force, the community embraces a step in reconciliation by reclaiming jurisdiction over the safety and well-being of our children, youth and families.

We are recruiting for a Navigator. This is a full-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists clients after the initial intake process
  • Provides referrals to appropriate services and liaises with referred agencies
  • Monitors and supports clients while waitlisted for service
  • Helps families understand the system and access appropriate services according to their needs
  • Participates in case management meetings with managers
  • Utilizes and consults with other interagency departments in health care and social services
  • Provides education and awareness on Nigig Nibi Ki-win Gamik and its services
  • Builds relationships with non-indigenous service agencies
  • Develops and implements tools to ensure evidence-based reporting
  • Completes all administrative reporting requirements
  • Creates enrollment forms to assign clients to staff member caseloads
  • Manage and maintain the client master List
  • Ensures the protection and privacy of all health information and records
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma with 3-5 years of experience working directly with AoPFN in the social work or healthcare sector or Grade 12 diploma with a minimum of three years of direct experience working with youth and families in a social service or other related health setting
  • Administrative experience using various case management systems, Excel, Word, and Microsoft programs
  • Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) people would be considered an asset
  • Proven ability to develop holistic plans of care with the client and ensure a connection with the appropriate resources
  • Knowledge of indigenous traditional healing practices
  • In-depth knowledge of local, regional, and provincial Indigenous and non-Indigenous services
  • Able to research, analyze, and organize efficiently
  • Effectively communication skills, verbal and written

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Provide an acceptable vulnerable sector check or criminal reference check
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Proof of a valid class G driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract
