Located in the southwest edge of Renfrew County, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan is home to several outdoor adventure businesses, second-generation logging companies, and many small businesses that thrive in our community. The hamlets of Palmer Rapids, Brudenell, Quadeville, Hardwood Lake and more are nestled in this rural and heavily forested township with 60,000 hectares of bush that supports the logging industry and surrounds the lush farmland. The public works department is responsible for 197 kilometers of roads in the township.

The Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan is recruiting for a Mechanic-Operator. This is a full-time position.

The Mechanic-Operator has the following responsibilities:

• Diagnose, maintain and repair various equipment including pick-up trucks, tandems, loaders, graders, grass cutting mowers and smaller pieces
• Conduct regular inspections of all municipal equipment
• Maintains current fleet vehicle logs and equipment repair records
• Order and maintain an appropriate inventory of parts and supplies
• Operating plow trucks, sand trucks, excavators, bulldozers and other vehicles
• Operates tractors and mowers, chippers, chain saws and other tools
• Perform road maintenance such as clearing culverts, cold patching potholes and repairing road signage

Complete Job Description

• 310T license
• Ontario Class DZ driver’s license
• One to three years of experience in a heavy equipment repair work environment
• Experience with computerized electrical systems, AC equipment controls and hydraulic systems
• Ability to operate diagnostic equipment and tools, perform computer-based diagnosis, analyze problems and implement solutions
• Ability to fabricate and repair hydraulic hoses
• Excellent physical conditions with the ability to handle physical demands and heavy machinery including trucks
• Previous experience in the operations of road department trucks, loaders, graders etc.
• Experience driving a plow truck is an asset
• 310S license or 421A license is an asset

The successful applicant will be required to provide a current driver’s abstract and vulnerable sector check.

Salary will be based on qualification and includes a benefit package and OMER’s pension.
