The Petawawa Centennial Family Health Centre (PCFHC) is growing to serve the medical needs of our town and the area’s 20,000 people. The team includes doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, social worker, dietitian, pharmacist, midwife and administrative staff.

We are recruiting for a Bookkeeper-Accounting Clerk. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing checks, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash, cheque logs.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Coordinate bank deposits.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Maintain investment schedules, oversee cash flow requirements and communications with bankers or investment advisors.
  • Oversee the internal system of handling funds.
  • Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets and assist with the preparation for audits or independent reviews.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation for all accounts.
  • Exert care and control over assets and records and establish procedures for safeguarding.
  • Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for financial issues.
  • Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date, complete and systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records.
  • May participate in the preparation of reports that outline the PCFHC’s financial position.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, analyze and report variances.
  • Responsible for tax planning and compliance with federal, provincial and local payroll, and other applicable taxes.
  • Furnish internal and external reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient.
  • Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advise on desirable operational adjustments.
  • Evaluate and recommend insurance coverage.
  • Prepare and maintain fixed assets inventory.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial management
  • Ability to perform all payroll, benefits, and HOOPP functions
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Understanding of computerized accounting systems
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Sage and Excel
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines
  • Assertive yet comfortable communicating with various types of individuals
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles
  • Professional grooming and presentation
  • Ability to act with patience, tact, discretion and diplomacy
  • Criminal records check satisfactory to the PCFHC

Assets:

  • CGA designation
  • Experience in accounting
  • Billing experience

Wage and benefits:

  • $52,568 - $74,048 per year, according to skill set
