We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Manager for PMFRC mental health team. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for directing the work of the PMFRC Mental Health Team; working to ensure a safe, ethical, high quality, and consistent practice. The manager has full accountability for 9 employees, directing and overseeing all aspects of performance management, recruiting and disciplinary administration as required. This position participates in the planning and provision of therapeutic services and identifies broader issues that have a potential impact on client care and service delivery, and may also work an assigned caseload when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional clinical supervision for social work staff compatible with the philosophy and goals for the PMFRC. Making team decisions regarding plans and priorities. Providing technical guidance and recommending training and/or other courses of actions. Acting as a mentor, assigning specific cases, monitoring work and providing constructive feedback and evaluations on their progress.
  •  In collaboration with the mental health team, assess the need for clinical or preventative groups and assist with the coordination of clinical or preventative groups.
  • Use effective crisis intervention approaches to reduce the impact of increased symptoms on the client and their caretaker.
  • Ensures agency accountability and confidentiality for program participants. Creating and maintaining confidential client reports in accordance with the PMFRC privacy code and all applicable professional associations that fall within the PMFRC’s mental health team.
  • Identify the needs of the community in terms of prevention and counselling, and participate in the planning, conception, development and start-up of prevention programs.
  • Strong relationship building skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively and build rapport with a wide range of professionals. Establishing and maintaining a database of community services that provide counselling, support and assistance to families.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in social work with clinical practice
  • A post-graduate degree in a recognized clinical discipline may be considered
  • Registration with the applicable Ontario Professional Association
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in supervising a team in a social service setting
  • Advanced clinical skills in assessment, intervention, analytical and critical thinking
  • Language requirement: English mandatory; French an asset

  • Knowledge required to plan and implement service delivery and monitoring frameworks, setting priorities, evaluating services, identifying service gaps and resolving problems.
  • Coordinating the work of an interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of clients.
  • Knowledge of social work principles, acts and regulations surrounding the delivery of the mental health services to military families.

  • Possess a wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge encompassing various approaches to assess the program design, development and implementation, facilitation, coordination and evaluation, group dynamics, crisis intervention, family violence, abuse, and attachment theory and separation issues with the ability to establish priorities and evaluate the risk to self and others.
  • In-depth knowledge of civilian, provincial agencies and other organizations that can provide support to the military families.
  • Public speaking and presentation development; ability to ensure effective overall administration practices, present information and respond to questions from supervisors, staff and the general public.
  • Ability to influence and identify learning opportunities and provide direction and coaching for employees with their individual professional development.

Special Requirements:

  • Adhere to all PMFRC policies and procedures including policies regarding privacy code and confidentiality.
  • Participate in and assist with all special events when required.
  • Occasional extended workday and/or occasional evening or weekend as required. Flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the families we serve.
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check, obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance and vulnerable sector screening (current within 6 months).
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel and requisite driver’s insurance.
  • Travel within the County of Renfrew will be required.
  • Exhibit characteristics of warmth, empathy, humour, and a non-judgmental philosophy of client-centred care and strong understanding and application of ethical principles.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian Forces communities, systems and policies to effectively assist families in accessing appropriate services and supports.
