MacKay Manor offers five addiction-based programs to the residents of Renfrew County and Ontario. There are two bed-based services that offer a 90-day program to men and women who suffer from addiction related issues. Other programs include: community withdrawal management, STOP, a smoking cessation program, and the Addiction Supportive Housing program.
MacKay Manor is seeking 1 part-time contract Intensive Case Manager for the Addiction Supportive Housing (ASH) program. This is a 12-month contract position working a minimum of 18.5 hours per week.
The Role
The ASH program, is a community-based program, sponsored by MacKay Manor. The Intensive Case Manager works with individuals who are seeking assistance in obtaining and maintaining appropriate housing. The ability to interact with staff, clients and referral sources in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. The ideal individual has the capacity to work well under tight timelines while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. This person must be exceptionally well organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of supporting the clients we serve.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for responding to all inquiries (email and phone) about the ASH program
- Screening, assessment and treatment planning
- Provide individual and group counselling

- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in a human services field, from an accredited college or university
- Clinical certification as an addiction counsellor (Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation) or working towards
- Ability to communicate in an effective, polished, and timely manner
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Training or experience working with a population who have experienced trauma or adverse life events is preferred
- Valid First Aid-CPR and ASSIST training
- Valid driver’s license, consistent use of reliable transportation and appropriate operator’s insurance
- French verbal and written ability are assets
- A satisfactory criminal records check with vulnerable sector clearance
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals
- Able to perform moderate physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting, moving items, etc.

Working Conditions:
- The work environment is community-based. You may be exposed to infectious and communicable diseases while working with individuals who have a history of trauma and being aggressive.
