We are currently recruiting for a Bilingual Infant Development Worker. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) position.
Position Summary
This unionized position is with the infant development program, a voluntary, home-based early intervention service for children from birth to age five who are at risk of developmental delays. Infant development workers support families by providing developmental information, play-based interventions, and guidance on community services, special needs, and available resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct home visits to assess and support all areas of child development, including gross and fine motor, social-emotional, cognitive, communication, and self-help skills.
- Identify, screen, and assess infants and children at risk for developmental delays (birth to age 5).
- Develop individualized family service plans in collaboration with families.
- Implement a family-centered approach to:
- Educate caregivers about typical and atypical development and relevant diagnoses.
- Support developmental growth through routine-based intervention.
- Facilitate transitions to preschool, school, and other services.
- Coordinate care with other professionals and service providers.
- Advocate for the child’s needs while respecting family diversity and values.
- Deliver community education and outreach.
- Remain informed of current research and best practices in early intervention and child development.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Utilize computer-based tools for data entry, documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Complete administrative duties such as payroll, mileage, and purchase order submissions.
- Report and document serious occurrences and critical incidents.
- Adhere to all FCSRC policies and procedures, ministry regulations, standards, directives and relevant legislation.

- Two-year community college diploma in early childhood education, child development, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- A minimum of 6 months of work experience in a related field.
- Strong understanding of developmental milestones and early childhood intervention strategies.
- Experience working with children with special needs and supporting families in a family-centered model.
- Ability to apply evidence-informed practices to support developmental progress and family engagement.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic diversity.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and implement evidence-based research into practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse service and staff population, and a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusivity in practice.
- Bilingualism in English and French.
