Renfrew County is located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley in Eastern Ontario and stretches from the outskirts of Canada's capital. We are currently recruiting for temporary School Support Counsellors at three schools in our district:

Beachburg Public School (Elementary) SSC-226

  • 100% of full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Effective immediately for the 2020-2021 school year

Mackenzie Community School (Secondary) SSC-227

  • 70% of full-time (24.5 hours per week)
  • Effective immediately for the 2020-2021 school year (or return of the incumbent)

Queen Elizabeth Public School (Elementary) SSC-228

  • 100% of full time (35 hours per week)
  • For the period of January 4, 2021 to April 12, 2021

The School Support Counsellor will provide school-based prevention and intervention services in elementary or secondary schools to address social and emotional and behavioural barriers to learning. Incumbents will be assigned to a caseload at the elementary or secondary school level.

  • A minimum of a two-year community college diploma in the social services field (e.g. CYW, SSW, BSW, BST), or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the board
  • Experience working within a school setting is essential
  • Experience in supporting students with attendance issues and child and youth mental health issues would be considered an asset
