West Pontiac Connects (WPC) is a non-profit organization providing services and training in the Upper Pontiac, located in the village of Chapeau on L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Quebec.

WPC is seeking a Skills Link Assistant-Coordinator for the Youth to Work Program. This program is proudly supported by the Government of Canada’s Youth Skills Link program.

This is a full-time, contract position, at 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday) for 11-weeks, from February 26 to May 18, with a possibility of renewal in the upcoming sessions.

The Skills Link Assistant-Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Program Coordinator. The Assistant-Coordinator will be responsible supporting the implementation of the group experience phase of the program. This position will work front-line with youth 16 to 35 years old by providing directed support and employability skills development, and with the employer community to identify and develop job leads, and to assist participants with coaching, support, and monitoring to find and maintain employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helping to market and promote the program
  • Provide youth with required supports
  • Facilitate in-class workshops and implement programming to develop employability skills
  • Help in the coordination of work experience placements and opportunities for youth
  • Liaise with employers to develop jobs and/or to provide direct training opportunities
  • Daily administrative and operational duties
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Social Work or Career and Work Counselling is desired; a combination of training and experience will also be considered as equivalent
  • Must be resourceful and have proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, energetic and motivated
  • Strong leadership skills and experience working with youth, considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Upper Pontiac communities and local employers, considered an asset
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Should have Level 1 First Aid, or willing to get required training
  • Must consent to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check, as required
