Since 1996, Pembroke MDF has been manufacturing a wide range of medium-density fibreboard and interior moulding products. Equipped with a parallel refining system and dual moulding lines, the Pembroke mill has an annual production capacity of 130 million square feet (3/4-inch basis). Our plant employs nearly 200 employees.

The Position

We currently have an opening for a Plant Controller. This is a full-time position.

The Plant Controller provides financial analysis and support to operations and commercial teams to make better decisions to improve profitability at the mill. The Plant Controller will be instrumental in collaborating with plant managers to assess new opportunities and operational strategies, leveraging market data to enhance decision-making. 

What You Will Do:

• Collaborate closely with operations to understand production costs and efficiency metrics.
• Support the commercial team by providing financial insights on pricing, margins, and profitability analysis.
• Act as a financial advisor to drive strategic initiatives and continuous improvement within the plant.
• Complete accounting close responsibilities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Ensure the completion of timely and accurate mill inventory counts.
• Review documentation monthly and adjust inventories as necessary.
• Works closely with mill management to optimize business decisions.
• Assist with preparing the annual plan and participate in management meetings.
• Work closely with mill management to optimize business decisions by completing detailed financial analysis to support decision making.
• Complete product costing.
• Support capital expenditures planning process.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• A minimum of three years of experience in accounting
• Experience with costing models and margin analysis
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, theory and practice
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office with the capability of advanced Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong critical thinking skills
• A self-starter with a high degree of individual initiative
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment

Preferred:

• Wood products experience
• Chartered Professional Accountant designation
• Oracle JDE experience
• OBIEE experience
• Anaplan experience
