Pembroke MDF Inc. is a privately owned company, located just outside Pembroke. Our facility utilizes high quality wood fiber supplied by local sawmills to manufacture high quality fibreboard and painted base board mouldings. Unlike other types of wood panels, the homogenous and uniform structure of fibreboard results in a product that is easily routed, milled and finished. 

We currently have an opportunity for the right individual to join our dynamic and talented team of employees as: Lab Support.

This position is responsible for performing routine quality audits of the pressing and finishing departments.The position reports to the Lab Team Lead but works under the direct supervision of the Shift Team Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine quality audits of the pressing and finishing departments
  • Collect samples of production from the pressing departments to be cut into test specimen size with a table saw
  • Perform testing on collected samples using PC based testing equipment
  • Record all test results accurately in PC database
  • Communicate all test results accurately to the Shift Team Lead, Lab Team Lead, Technical Manager and QPL
  • Able to perform all testing required in the Quality Control Lab
  • Able to interpret product specifications, communicate standards and know and understand the “Quality Manual”
  • Maintain Quality Lab to be clean and neat.
  • Identify root cause of issues during production and document findings
  • Maintains respectful communication with co-workers and supervisory staff
  • Familiar with the company’s policies/processes and understands the impact of this position on the competitiveness and performance of the company
  • Complies with and follows health and safety policies and programs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate and two years of related experience
  • Experience with metric measurements
  • Actual work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
