The mission of Bernadette McCann House (BMH), an accredited organization serving Renfrew County, is to work for change that will end abuse by providing safety, support and education to all those who experience abuse. Our services include an emergency residential program for women and children, community outreach, support services for children, groups and workshops.
Specifically, our residential program offers a short-term emergency 16-bed shelter for women and children fleeing an abusive relationship.
We are currently recruiting for a Transitional Support Caseworker. This position is a part-time contract, working three days per week, 45 hours bi-weekly. The contract will run from September 2022 to April 1, 2023 with a possible extension.
Reporting to the Outreach Supervisor, the Transitional Support Caseworker provides direct service to women who have experienced abuse. Responsibilities of this position:
- Assistance with housing applications, and accessing community resources
- Caseworker assists and supports women in developing and addressing their transitional plans
- Education and support regarding domestic violence
- Crisis intervention
- Safety planning
- Client advocacy
- Group facilitation
