Located approximately 150 kilometers northwest of Ottawa, Pembroke Regional Hospital delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a population of approximately 55,000 residents. With the dedicated support of 750 staff members, an engaged physician community and hundreds of volunteers, Pembroke Regional Hospital provides acute services in emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, acute mental health, orthopaedics and obstetrics. The hospital has a full range of rehabilitation services, is the designated district stroke centre for the region, and provides community-based mental health services throughout Renfrew County.

The Pembroke Regional Hospital is recruiting for a Trades Generalist (HVAC), Maintenance. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday.

The Trades Generalist supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the physical plant by maintaining and repairing equipment, maintaining and making repairs to the physical plant, and providing expertise in their area of specialty. These functions are performed within a team environment that includes licensed tradespersons, maintenance assistants, a project coordinator and a director.

• Certificate of qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning System Mechanic 313A
• Gas Technician G1 or G2 license
• High school diploma
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards
• Ability to work with blueprints, drawings, schematic diagrams and layouts
• Ability to shift priorities with minimal disruption
• Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in oral and written format with supervisors, colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Demonstrated diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the hospital

Assets:

• Previous experience in a hospital or large-scale building maintenance
• Experience with building automation systems (BAS)
• Bilingualism (French and English)
