Arnprior Aerospace Inc. combines facilities from Canada, the United States and Mexico to develop and manufacture aerospace structure and components for North America’s largest aerospace companies. Located in Arnprior, less than 30 minutes west of Ottawa/Kanata.

We are currently recruiting for a Chemist.

We offer you a dynamic working environment with significant opportunities to make a contribution to the quality and productivity of our laboratory deliverables. You will be working under the umbrella of the Materials & Processes group within a cross functional environment. As part of the function you will act as a key person to monitor and maintain the health of the chemical process line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory.
  • Sample chemical tanks and support equipment for the evaluation both internally and at external laboratories.
  • Prepare test specimens for processing and evaluation both internally and at external laboratories.
  • Maintain, monitor and operate salt spray test booth.
  • Perform quantitative analysis using basic analytical techniques (titration, gravimetric analysis, etc.) and instrumentation (pH meter, conductivity meter, ion-selective electrode instrument, spectrophotometer, etc.).
  • Report and interpret test results to make decisions about maintenance of process line tanks.
  • Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities and recommend improvements to test methods, equipment and overall process quality.
  • Interface with external laboratories to ensure tests are completed as required and on time.
  • Liaises with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Shipping, customers and suppliers;
  • Participate in regular chemical trend analysis team meetings.
  • Keeps up to date with process control, health and safety issues in special process area.
Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Chemical Technologist diploma or bachelor’s degree in relevant chemistry or engineering discipline, or other related field of study, with three to five years of related work experience.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Have attention to detail and be meticulous in your day to day activities.
  • Willingness to learn about aerospace specific activities such as preparation of test specimens for processing and evaluation for salt spray testing and paint adhesion testing.
  • Organized, able to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively while working towards aggressive deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Familiar with performing in a Nadcap approved environment.
  • Familiar with AS9100 requirements.

Assets:

  • Previous work experience in an aerospace environment would be an asset.
  • Experience with ion chromatography would be considered an asset.
