Transfer Station Attendant

The Township of North Algona Wilberforce is a rural municipality located in the midst of the Ottawa Valley. The natural environment is our backyard and our community is one to rally for initiatives that improve our quality of life and opportunities.

We are currently recruiting for a Transfer Station Attendant. This is a part-time position.

Responsibilities:

• Greet residents and assist with the proper drop-off of waste and recycling
• Process payments and tipping fees
• Sort materials to ensure proper items and prevent prohibited items
• Operate trash compactors and monitor capacity
• Ensure the facility is clean and safe
• Maintain proper documentation and records

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety rules
• Demonstrated communication skills including the ability to listen, responding with tact and courtesy
• Proven ability to exhibit a high level of initiative, work performance and responsibility in the performance of duties
• Ability to process financial transactions as they relate to tipping fees
• Successful candidate will be required to work weekends and applicable holidays
• Reliable transportation with a Class G driver’s licence
• Knowledge of Ministry of Environment and Climate Change as well as Ministry of Natural Resources regulations is an asset
