Wise Owl Day Care Centre is a licensed, non-profit childcare centre. We provide programs for infants, toddlers, pre-school, full day before and after kindergarten, and a before and after school-age program. We are one of Renfrew County's largest childcare facilities, hosting children ranging in age from infant to school age.

Wise Owl Day Care Centre is currently recruiting for a Cook’s Assistant. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. This position is available to start November 16th.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the overall function of the kitchen in a positive and efficient manner.
• Maintain an above average sanitary condition of the kitchen including all supplies, equipment used in meal preparation and service. 
• Assist with the preparation of meals and snacks using whole foods and foods prepared from scratch using unprocessed ingredients, considering seasonal foods. 
• Ensure that all food is properly and safely stored for optimum food safety and nutrition. 
• Be aware of and follow the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Renfrew County & District Health Unit.
• Be aware of and plan for diet restrictions and food allergies.
• Work easily in a child centred environment.

• A sound knowledge of food hygiene practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal skills.
• The ability to work as a part of a team and take leadership role when required.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• The ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively,
• A vulnerable screening check.
• A current record of immunization that meets the requirements of the Renfrew County & District Health Unit.
• Safe Food Handlers certificate
• Ability to accommodate work schedules that may may extend beyond the regularly scheduled shift
• Prior experience in food service preparation is an asset
