Description:

The mission of Bernadette McCann House (BMH) is to work for change that will end abuse, by providing safety, support and education to all those who experience abuse. Our services include an emergency residential program for women and children, community outreach, court support, services for children and youth, groups and workshops.

We are currently recruiting a Child & Youth Caseworker. This is a contract position working 37.5 hours per week, from October 2026 to April 1, 2027, with the possibility of an extension. This position will work in Pembroke and Renfrew.

This position includes frontline services to children and youth who have witnessed or experienced violence. This includes providing one-to-one service, safety planning education, and groups and drop-in sessions. In addition, this role provides information to children and youth regarding healthy relationships and advocates for and makes referrals to other services.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Education and support regarding domestic violence, intimate partner violence
  • Crisis intervention
  • Safety planning
  • Client advocacy
  • Group facilitation
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a post-secondary program in social sciences or a related field
  • A thorough understanding of the issue of violence against women, and the impact on child witnesses
  • Experience in crisis intervention
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively both as a team member and independently
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
  • Vaccinated against COVID-19
