Nigig Nibi-Ki-win Gamik is an Indigenous child and family well-being organization rooted in Algonquin jurisdiction and community values.
We are recruiting for a Governance and Board Liaison. This is a full-time position.
About The Role
This role supports the integrity and day-to-day coordination of governance processes while helping maintain respectful and effective communication between Nigig Nibi-Ki-win Gamik and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AOFPN). This role also supports operational tasks connected to Board administration, including time management tracking, travel logistics, and governance documentation controls. The role is expected to handle sensitive information with a high degree of discretion and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate board meetings, schedules, and notices
- Support agenda preparation and board package assembly
- Draft, format, track, and file board resolutions
- Maintain board records and governance documentation systems
- Track board action items and follow-up commitments
- Coordinate the board timesheet and related administrative tracking
- Track governance-related budgeting
- Support board travel bookings and logistics
- Draft and coordinate governance-related correspondence
- Support respectful liaison communication with approved AOPFN contacts
- Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders in a respectful and effective manner
- Review and revise policy and protocols as required

- Diploma or degree in business administration, public administration, office administration, governance or board administration, Indigenous governance, political science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience
- A minimum of three to five years of experience working directly with board governance or leadership at a senior level in an administrative capacity, including acting as a liaison to stakeholders
- Experience working with First Nation people or groups is an asset
- A clean police record check with vulnerable sector screening
- A class G driver's license, a clear driver’s abstract and daily access to a vehicle
- High level of diplomacy and discretion
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential information
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and follow through consistently
- Respectful, professional approach to relationship coordination
- Experience in an Indigenous-led organization, not-for-profit, public sector, or community-serving environment is an asset
