Volunteer firefighting offers a meaningful and rewarding opportunity to serve and support our community. We are seeking dedicated individuals who are interested in contributing their time and skills to this vital public service role. Applicants must live and work within reasonable proximity to Renfrew to ensure an effective response time and be available to meet turnout requirements.
Under the established chain of command, the Volunteer Firefighter reports to and operates under the general direction and supervision of a Fire Captain, Acting Captain, or the Fire Chief. We encourage qualified and community-minded individuals to consider applying for this important role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The general duties and responsibilities for the position of Volunteer Firefighter include:
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development.
- Perform fire ground operations in a safe and proficient manner.
- Respond to various emergencies including fire alarm activations and structure fires.
- Required to work within the incident management structure, adhering to orders and direction.
- Responsible for basic knowledge and the safe use of departmental equipment.
- Attend regularly scheduled training sessions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Fire Chief or officer.
