The Grind Pembroke is a not-for-profit organization thats main focus is to support youth and adults who are marginalized and struggling to live a normal life. We are a faith based, not for profit organization that accepts and supports all people, regardless of age, ethnicity, sexual preference or social status.

We are recruiting for a Community Kitchen Cook and Supervisor. This is a part-time position working 27 hours per week from Tuesday to Friday.

The Community Kitchen Cook and Supervisor will provide food preparation and cooking services for The Grind Pembroke’s community kitchen, with the support of volunteers. The incumbent will work with and provide direction and expertise to volunteers in the preparation of specified meals at specified times to at-risk patrons and clients of The Grind Pembroke. You will prepare lunch for patrons from Tuesday to Friday, 8:00am to 2:45pm.

Specific tasks that the incumbent will be responsible for achieving include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • meal planning
  • purchasing of food required to prepare meals
  • food preparation
  • food cooking
  • serving of food to patrons and clients
  • overseeing volunteers assisting with the above-mentioned tasks
  • ensuring that the kitchen and kitchen equipment are kept tidy and clean so as to meet food safety and hygiene standards required by the Renfrew County & District Health Unit
  • maintaining statistics
Qualifications
  • A minimum educational background of high school graduation or equivalent in experience in the food industry
  • Possess a certificate in safe food handling from a recognized authority
  • Strong and demonstrated leadership qualities and be able to work on assignments will little to no on-going supervision.
  • Excellent knowledge of food and food preparation
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety

Currently we are looking for availability for: Tuesday to Friday from 8:00am to 2:45pm.
