We are currently recruiting for a Human Resource Manager. This is a full-time position.
The Human Resources Manager is a key leadership role responsible for advancing strategic employee and labour relations, strengthening organizational culture, and positioning CLUOV for future growth.
The Human Resources Manager is an existing non-unionized role that reports to the Executive Director and plays a central role in shaping a healthy, engaged, and high-performing workforce. You will lead collaborative employee relations and labour relations strategies, support managers through complex workplace issues, and ensure that human resources practices reflect fairness, transparency, and respect. Using sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to person-centered values, you will help ensure CLUOV remains an employer of choice in our sector.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the grievance management process, including mediation, arbitration preparation, and settlement negotiation
- Conduct and oversee investigations into workplace concerns, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance
- Oversee health and safety programs, including committee coordination, ergonomics, accident reporting, and WSIB compliance
- Provide guidance to the leadership team on the interpretation and application of legislation, collective agreements, disciplinary practices and human resources policies
- Provide backup support for leave management, disability claims, and accommodation processes
- Guide managers through workplace accommodations and return‑to‑work planning
- Lead recruitment, retention, and remuneration strategies that support organizational stability and growth
- Monitor human resources metrics, analyze trends, and provide insights to inform decision‑making and continuous improvement
- Support employee wellbeing, engagement, and organizational culture initiatives
- Contribute to strategic planning and organizational performance measurement

- Post-secondary education in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, labour law or a related field
- A minimum of five years of human resources management experience, including at least three years in employee and labour relations within a unionized environment
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, HRTO, collective agreements, and labour relations frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Experience with leave management, benefit administration and claims
- Experience providing leadership in a nonprofit environment
- Expertise in Excel and HRIS, scheduling and forecasting labour requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, union partners, and leadership
- Proven conflict‑resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- A proactive, flexible, and self-directed approach to work
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation
- Vulnerable sector screening (upon hire)
