The team at Pillar5 has proven experience in formulation and process development in the laboratory, the manufacturing environment, and on the plant floor. Pillar5 is currently the only CDMO with the ability to manufacture multi-dose preservative-free solutions.
Pillar5 Pharma is seeking an Indirect Procurement Specialist. This is a full-time position.
The Indirect Procurement Specialist will serve as a key internal resource, responsible for buying, planning, and negotiating activities supporting Pillar5 sites and their associated vendors for indirect procurement. This position requires regular collaboration with cross-functional teams including warehousing, manufacturing, finance, technical services, planning, and quality operations to support operational needs and maintain a reliable, high-performing supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement activities for indirect production supplies, non-inventory materials, services, PPE, and lab equipment, ensuring timely purchasing, delivery, and resolution of order discrepancies.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, including identifying cost reduction opportunities, conducting market analysis, and managing the end-to-end RFP process from requirements development through supplier selection.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including performance monitoring through vendor scorecards, supplier meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage contracts and supplier agreements, including reviewing terms and conditions, coordinating renewals and amendments, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and ethical sourcing practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with quality assurance, finance, logistics, warehousing, and other departments to resolve supply and quality issues, manage supplier change requests, and support operational requirements.
- Monitor procurement performance and operations, including backorders, supplier risks, purchase order status, and procurement KPIs, while supporting inventory and supply continuity for production.

- University degree or college diploma in supply chain management or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressive purchasing experience
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Excellent teamwork, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to interpret complex spend data to formulate strategic procurement recommendations
- Experience in leading RFP, multi-quote processes
- Able to adhere to procurement policy and update and improve current policies and procedures
- Experience in strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, supplier management
- Proficient in Microsoft applications
- Certification in purchasing (CPP) or production/inventory management (i.e., CPIM) is an asset
- SAP or other ERP experience is an asset
