Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AoPFN)is a proud and progressive Algonquin community. Pikwakanagan is situated on the shores of Golden Lake and the Bonnechere River in Renfrew County. Located off Highway 60, our community is 90 minutes west of Ottawa and 90 minutes hours east of Algonquin Park.

We are currently recruiting for an Administrative Assistant. This is a one-year, maternity leave position working 35 hours per week.

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative services in areas of project management, project functions, reporting, and budgeting for assigned projects including fieldwork as required. This role will assist with the management of assigned projects and working groups, and coordinate necessary administrative functions associated with working group activities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Completes all assigned administrative tasks
  • Coordinates and attends meetings, records and transcribes meeting notes, ensure conciseness of information, and disseminates information to ensure direction is received in a timely fashion.
  • Monitors and responds to emails from archaeological firms, proponents, or consultants and provides information related to monitoring of projects.
  • Track and document field work through timesheets and tracking documents.
  • Organize and review reports from fieldwork.
  • Answers and forwards incoming calls and takes messages.
  • Responds to public inquiries and refer the public to the appropriate sources for detailed information.
  •  Coordinates, operates, and maintains various communication systems to set up, receive, sort, distribute and deliver information in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with appropriate staff copy for advertising in Pikwakanagan’s weekly newsletter, website, information boards and electronic boards.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma with minimum of 1 year of work experience in the administrative field including reception services, or 3 years experience in a related field with a willingness to obtain further education.
  • Computer experience that includes internet and Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook.
