Eganville and District Seniors has partnered with Barry’s Bay and Area Home Support, the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan and the Township of Whitewater Region to hire Intergenerational Support Workers for our new homemaking and home maintenance program. This is a two-year project, through funding from the Government of Canada through the Age Well At Home Initiative. 

We are recruiting for Intergenerational Support Works, specifically for yard and home maintenance duties.

We are looking to create a pool of candidates based on their availability and what geographical area they are looking to work in with all of our partners.  There’s an opportunity to work part-time, full-time or casual according to your schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grass cutting
  • Raking
  • Snow removal
  • General maintenance
  • Gardening and weeding flower beds
  • Trimming hedges and trees
  • Deck staining
  • Own transportation is required and a valid driver's license
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (training available)
  • Experience in the care of the elderly
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must demonstrate a genuine concern and interest in the well-being of the clients
  • Must have the ability to be tactful, friendly and extremely patient when interacting with the client
  • Must be courteous and friendly to family and visitors and work in a cooperative manner with fellow workers in a team environment
  • Must have the physical capabilities compatible with the current physical demands analysis for this position
