Personal Support Worker

Our home is seeking two part-time and casual residential Personal Support Workers or Developmental Service Workers to provide care to a young adult with an intellectual disability and brain injury. This job role requires working one-on-one with the client, administering medications, assisting with personal care, making meals, light housekeeping, working towards individualized goals, and taking the client to appointments and for drives.

Employees are required to work in person, and onsite at the private client residence. Flexibility with regards to scheduling is expected.

We are currently seeking staff with availability on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as occasionally on long weekends and evenings.

Scheduling and Shifts Hours:

• Day Shifts:  8 am - 3 pm ( 7 hours )
• Evening Shifts: 3:00pm-9:00pm ( 6 hours)
• Weekend Shifts: Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays

Staff can work every second weekend and schedules can be customized if mutually agreed upon

Casual PSW Position:

• We work around your schedule!
• Days, evenings and weekend shifts
• On-call and short-notice shifts
• Work a few shifts per month or as often as you are able

Part-Time Position:

• Commit to a rotating schedule
• 6 and 7-hour shifts
• 12- 24 hours per week with the opportunity to pick up casual shifts

Education:

• High school diploma, or
• Diploma in the field of developmental service worker, personal support worker or practical nursing, or two-year post-secondary education in the field of human or social services, or
• Relevant education and/or experience in personal care assistance

Additional Requirements:

• Valid driver's license (Class G2 or G) with access to a reliable vehicle and proof of vehicle insurance ($2 million coverage)
• Current certification in First Aid-CPR or willing to obtain
• Recent, clear criminal record and vulnerable sector screening check or wiling to obtain
• Proof of COVID vaccine and 2023-2024 flu shot preferred
• Proven excellence in working independently
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Physical capacity to conduct tasks including, but not limited to, conducting general household maintenance (indoor and outdoor), standing or walking for long periods, and bending, sitting, reaching, squatting and driving
• Ability to speak and write in English

Wage is dependent upon experience.
