Riverview Heights Retirement Residence is an independent living seniors' residence which opened in 2008. We provide a home-like setting with an open and friendly culture that allows residents and families to feel valued, safe and secure. Riverview Heights encourages independence while providing residents and their families the comfort of knowing our caring staff is there to help if needed.

Riverview Heights is currently recruiting for a Registered Practical Nurse. This is a part-time position.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Participates in the shift report at the beginning and end of the shift
  • Administers and/or supervises medications as ordered by attending physicians
  • Completes reporting paperwork including client charting, incident reports, behaviour reports, post-fall analysis, etc.
  • Maintains safety and cleanliness in all work areas
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times
  • Assisting with infection control and communication with the local health unit
  • Communicates with families, medical professionals, and other departments with respect to resident health and wellbeing
  • Completes referrals and arranges for additional healthcare services
  • Maintain point click care, point of care, and EMAR as required
  • Assists clients with personal care as required
  • Completes nursing admission including medication orders, plan of care, UDA portal, code status, etc.
  • Completes administrative documentation on new clients
  • Gives treatments PRN (compresses, simple dressings, etc.)
Qualifications
  • Possesses a valid Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
  • Self-motivated individual with good decision-making abilities
  • Experience in the care of the elderly
  • Holds current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Empathy for and ability to understand and verbalize with clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attendance is essential
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to client and family-centric care
  • Able to concentrate in an environment that provides constant interruption and change
  • Able to lift five to 25 pounds
