Family & Children's Services of Renfrew County helps families and communities in Renfrew County protect and support the development and well being of children, youth and adults through integrated services, prevention and social inclusion. We provide services of child welfare, developmental services, Ontario Early Years, KUMON math and reading and family visitation and exchange services.

We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager, Organizational Development. This is an 18-month contract position.

Position Summary

This position will undertake to further the agency’s caring culture strategies, specifically to “become an employer-of-choice cultivating a team oriented work environment where everyone thrives.” As part of the greater corporate services team, this position will undertake various projects and initiatives to support wellness and healing, enhance internal communications, value achievement, and manage impact.

General Responsibilities

  • Engage and dialogue with employees, supervisors, and executive lead team to determine scope and direction of project
  • Identify and network with other companies, agencies, or organizations who have had success
  • Facilitate focus groups, surveys, and other means of data collection
  • Evaluate data and prepare recommendation regarding certification and accreditation related to the Employer of Choice strategic direction
  • Present a tangible, objective vision for the employer of choice goal
  • Prepare overall logic model and project plan and present to executive lead team for approval
  • Prepare appropriate project plans for each area of focus as determined by research and accreditation and certification requirements
  • Prepare budgets for each project for approval
  • Facilitate completion of all projects, on time and on budget
  • Mobilize and chair appropriate ad-hoc committees and working groups to encourage participation, sustainment, and success of each project
  • Prepare written reports for each project for presentation to the Director of Corporate Services at agreed upon milestone dates
  • Provide scheduled aiz-month reports to the wxecutive lead team detailing progress, budget, and planning for each project
  • Work with the human resources team to ensure collaboration and alignment with the agency’s HR strategy, recruitment strategy and succession plan
  • Work with the Communications Coordinator to ensure collaboration and alignment with the agency’s communication plans
  • Work with the finance team to ensure adherence to budget, and to align any building improvement and capital planning that may occur
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Corporate Services
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in business, organizational behaviour, or equivalent
  • Combination of experience and education in a related discipline
  • Project management certification preferred
  • Specific project management training and experience
  • Advanced technical knowledge with the ability to learn new applications. Above average skill in MS Project or other related software is required
  • Above average accuracy, respect for data integrity and a responsibility for quality assurance
  • Ability to use data to drive planning
  • Well-developed organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to objectively assess feedback and propose solutions that meet the  needs of all parties
  • Ability to engage individuals, small groups, and large groups in dialogue and brainstorming
  • Ability to view the agency globally
  • Ability to deliver consistent, professional responses to inquiries from colleagues, supervisors, and executive lead team
  • Respect for confidentiality and professionalism within a services organization
  • Ability to work in a team environment in completing priorities with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of change management, processes, dynamics and concepts
  • Knowledge of organizational development and transformation concepts
  • Ability to diagnose and analyze organizational needs
  • Social acuity
  • Knowledge of agency policies, procedures and equipment is considered an asset
  • Ability to travel and provide own transportation
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset
Additional Information


  • Presentation of project plan to achieve specific goals
  • Completion of specific projects and final reports for each of the agreed upon areas of focus
  • Initiation and wrap-up of required committees and working groups including setting and distributing terms of reference, agendas, recording and distributing minutes, and following up on action items
  • Interim reports at six-month intervals
  • Submission of application(s) for the chosen accreditation and certification
  • Final evaluation and report including sustainment and future recommendations
